Dear Parents:
We hope
you and our Jr. JDSC member(s) have enjoyed the spring and summer breaks
and are looking forward to the 2006/2007 ski season. Our plans are to
have a wonderful safe ski season with our Juniors and this can only be
accomplished with your help. We would like each parent to donate some
of their time to specific tasks for the group. Some tasks include
orientation, fundraising, mailings, parents w/ skiing abilities to help
on site, etc. Please come out and help make this a great ski

Have you put on a few more pounds then you wanted
to this year?
Are those bunions causing your boots to be a
little too tight?
Did your sweet little baby turn into the next NBA

Then get rid of those tight pants, coats and
boots!!

Trip Report*****
Thanks to all of the JDSC volunteers that helped with the JDSC junior
trip this past saturday.
Special thanks to Wanda Bradley and Sharon Burrell as
the leadership of the Junior team.
It was a beautiful day at Alpine valley with excellent conditions. There
were approximately 120 youth's brought
to the mountain by the JDSC junior team. Aprox 50 who are members of the
JDSC juniors the others were from
the Detroit community at large. If you believe getting this many
children to the mountain, paper work filled
out, helping get boots on, ski's on directed to classes etc., picking
kids up, slowing them down is fun, it really is.
For about half of the children this was there first ski experience. At
the beginning many went from barely being
able to stand, tears and "I can't do this", to little rockets flying
down the hill. The tears went to smiles and comments of
"when are we doing this again". It honestly is a great experience and
the camaraderie of the club really
shines through. Red blue and white JDSC jackets were noticeable all over
the beginners hill. Compliments where given
several times by the Alpine ski school staff and Ski patrol about our
organization and the fact that we had many
adults chaperoning the children. They also complimented us on the
positive behavior of the children, in class and
on the hill and looked forward to the Juniors return.
So dandies let's insure we keep up the support that the juniors need for
there upcoming outings. Try it you really will enjoy it.
Shhhhhh--- You may even be able to sneak a few runs in yourself.
To volunteer you can just show up at Alpine the morning of the Trip, at
aprox 9:00 AM, also drop an email to the juniors
so they will have an idea of the help they will have. They also could
use adult help riding the bus from Detroit with the kids.

The remaining trips are on the following dates:
January 24th,
February 7th (many members will be at the summit so if you are here
please volunteer)
February 21st
March 13th

A special THANK
YOU to all volunteers and chaperones for the Jr JDSC Exposure Trip
to Alpine Valley in December 2002. There were 153 children, the
majority were beginners and the Jr. Parents and JDSC adult members
turned out in full force to buckle boots, wipe noses, and assist
the children learning to ski; with your help many children actually
advanced to the beginner chair on their first outing. Thank
You, Thank You, Thank You
